SKANEATELES, N.Y. - Realtor Michael Williams said he had a "good feeling" about the house at 2432 West Lake Road in Skaneateles in the fall of 2016.
He thought the unique home, constructed in 1969, was "strongly built," and began a complete renovation of it "to bring it back to life."
"It was a custom-built house and had been lived in by just one owner," Williams said, "so a lot of what made it unique in the 1970s had to be changed."
Textured walls, tiled floors and the carpeting were removed, and Williams worked to make it more pleasing to the modern homeowner.
He "opened things up," allowing the cozy family room, formal dining room to be connected to the spacious kitchen.
New hardwood floors and carpeting and kitchen appliances were installed.
The upstairs master bathroom, which Williams called a typical '70s bathroom, was redone, adding a granite counter with double vanities and a new bathtub.
Many of the home's original unique features, though, have been kept intact.
Williams calls the house ideal for "outdoors-oriented, young families, especially those with older parents."
Parents of children in school will appreciate the Skaneateles School District.
As part of the Winding Way Association, owners will have access to more than 190-feet of Skaneateles Lake waterfront, with boat launch, dock and picnic grounds.
The home's backyard features a two-tiered deck with brick fireplace and an in-ground kidney-shaped swimming pool.
The backyard is secluded and private.
Williams believes for the outdoor enthusiast the home offers something "three seasons of the year."
Another unique feature of the house is a connected in-law apartment, which Williams believes, has never been used.
Perfect for elderly relatives, the apartment features its own kitchen, bedroom and bathroom and has its own separate entrance.
Williams calls the neighborhood "fantastic," adding that it features a great mix of young and old.
The house is just minutes away from the village of Skaneateles and is across the street from Anyela's Vineyards.
An open house is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 4, from 1 to 3 p.m.
